A Model Railroad In an RV, A Camper Van No Less!

Sunday, January 17, 2016.  I've finally started "My N-Scale Model Railroad Empire" blog.  I created it months ago, maybe even as far back as a year ago and maybe more.  But I've started it and that's the main thing.  The reason I'm writing about "My N-Scale Model Railroad Empire" in this blog is that in spite of its size of 30" x 60" we are going to somehow incorporate it or maybe more aptly put, fit it into Serenity.  Since David is not keen on towing anything with the van at the moment my model railroad will have to somehow find a home in little Miss Serenity.

Ideally, it would be nice if we could somehow create a lightweight storage pod for my layout (just the tabletop that is) that could simply fit into the hitch without having to put wheels on the thing unless of course, it was a very small a compact trailer of sorts.  Maybe, this isn't such a bad idea...something measuring about 48" x 72" would be ideal.  A lightweight aluminum frame and fibreglass housing might be an idea worth exploring.  And of utmost importance - this model railroad storage pod has to be watertight so as to not allow water in that will seriously damage my layout.  I guess this pod would also have to have a means of allowing the layout to float inside it so it is not damaged by the bumps and rough roads we might find ourselves traversing on during our travels.

And with all of these needs we'll also want the contraption to be economical for us to purchase.  A tall order I'm sure.

That's all for now folks.

Happy Camping!
