Wednesday, January 20, 2016. We noticed David browsing a website advertising Canadian campground jobs also known as Workamping. I think it's called Happy Vagabonds. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he found anything worth pursuing. He wants so much to be out on the open road that he trying to find opportunities where he can so he can live life on the road. We certainly hope something gets him to be where he wants to be.
The trip we took with him last October was great. He looked very comfortable, serene, full of light, love and peace as he was driving Serenity along the highways of Vancouver Island. He looked to be in his place, finding his calling, at home and at one with himself and the world. It's great to see him that way and we hope to see that again very soon...
...Edith when are going camping again?
Happy Camping Folks!

A Model Railroad In an RV, A Camper Van No Less!
Sunday, January 17, 2016. I've finally started "My N-Scale Model Railroad Empire" blog. I created it months ago, maybe even as far back as a year ago and maybe more. But I've started it and that's the main thing. The reason I'm writing about "My N-Scale Model Railroad Empire" in this blog is that in spite of its size of 30" x 60" we are going to somehow incorporate it or maybe more aptly put, fit it into Serenity. Since David is not keen on towing anything with the van at the moment my model railroad will have to somehow find a home in little Miss Serenity.
Ideally, it would be nice if we could somehow create a lightweight storage pod for my layout (just the tabletop that is) that could simply fit into the hitch without having to put wheels on the thing unless of course, it was a very small a compact trailer of sorts. Maybe, this isn't such a bad idea...something measuring about 48" x 72" would be ideal. A lightweight aluminum frame and fibreglass housing might be an idea worth exploring. And of utmost importance - this model railroad storage pod has to be watertight so as to not allow water in that will seriously damage my layout. I guess this pod would also have to have a means of allowing the layout to float inside it so it is not damaged by the bumps and rough roads we might find ourselves traversing on during our travels.
And with all of these needs we'll also want the contraption to be economical for us to purchase. A tall order I'm sure.
That's all for now folks.

A Winter Camping Excursion Delayed and Now A Spring Camping Excursion
Saturday, January 16, 2016. Looks like our winter camping excursion is now a spring camping excursion. We'd like to make a trip to Banff but our timing for a week's vacation is not likely a good time to be in Banff though. David has a the last week in April off, early Spring yet still early enough in the season where snow could still be on the ground and possibly fall from the sky.
So the idea that is now brewing is take a quick tour of the Olympic Peninsula, likely to be wet and rainy but warmer and a less likely an area to see snow. And this is all we have, as an idea for now. No specifics and no real thoughts or plans have hatched in our brains yet. And then we'll suddenly find ourselves in the month of April without nary a new thought about our vacation later in the month.
Serenity is holding up quite well since we parked her back in the storage lot back in October. As the cold weather was coming early for Metro Vancouver standards, David quickly winterized the van by adding RV antifreeze to the water lines as well as drain the fresh and hot water tanks back in November. An RV cover would have been nice though as Serenity is exposed to the elements and has a touch of green forming along some of her trim. She'll definitely need a bath sooner rather than later and perhaps even a good flushing of the gray and black tanks.
That's about all we have this time around and hopefully we'll be posting on a more frequent and regular basis.

Forgot To Post This Back In November
Sunday, November 1, 2015. The camping bug has not left us but the rainy season is here and David has no real holiday time left to take. Besides, his employers wouldn't likely let him go anyway. They had a difficult time managing without him when we were gone. But he is itching to go somewhere as much as we are, he's just trying to figure out how to do it. Quitting his job would be the easy part. It's how to keep his finances going after that, that's the problem.
So we're here to help. Help through our blog here and maybe a couple of others that may be of interest to people that like Tarot or model railroading. We certainly hope we don't scare anyone off mentioning those two things. Edith has her new blog "Edith's Spiritual Parlour" and I have mine, "My N-Scale Model Railroad Empire". If you care to read either just click on the name either of them and you'll be taken straight over so you can have a look.
We've been tossing around the idea of doing a fall or winter excursion in Serenity. No real firm ideas but when we brought over the sleeping bags to the van the other day the idea of another trip of sorts came to mind.
